Keys, clicks, and conditions

DeskRaid turns accepted background input into attacks while you work. Special keys and shortcuts can also activate hero abilities and item effects.

What counts

Physical key presses and supported background mouse clicks can attack. Tab, Caps Lock transitions, and Fn/Globe presses count in both modes; releasing Fn does not add another hit. Navigation keys keep their normal system behavior. Held-key repeats are filtered, and keyboard and click attacks share a limit of twenty accepted attacks per second.

Clicks inside DeskRaid still operate the interface and count in input statistics. Do not assume that clicking a reward button is another background attack. Session key statistics and accepted combat attacks are separate counters.

Shortcuts and class abilities

  • The Knight uses Return as part of its measured rhythm.
  • The Berserker spends rage through Delete, Command-Z, and Esc.
  • The Automaton loads through Command-C or Command-X and fires through Command-V.
  • The Evoker reacts to switching windows or applications, then typing.
  • The Modal Monk uses Vim-style modes, motions, operators, and commands.

These are ability triggers, not instructions to change your working habits unnecessarily. Hero pages list the full rules and limits.

Conditional item effects

Keyboard-row conditions use the named letter groups. Modifier effects can require holding Command, Control, Option, or Shift. Other conditions watch a preceding key, a sequence, a pause, or stroke timing. Clock windows use the local time and can wrap across midnight. Read each item's effect text for its exact condition.

Permissions and privacy

Background input needs macOS Input Monitoring permission. The app's onboarding includes a real typing test, and Settings lets you retry setup. Gameplay works locally; aggregate key counts and combat state are distinct from the text you type. The wiki itself receives no background input and does not run the game's global keyboard monitor.

The website demo is different

The main website's browser demo has a deliberately simplified battle and browser-specific balance. A web page cannot receive typing from other apps or tabs. This wiki documents the native Raid game; do not use demo damage or bleeding values as the app's rules.
